Brown-Forman Canada Managing Director Brad Fletcher (above right) said that the pure spring water found in Georgian Bay is a key ingredient to making outstanding whiskey.

A Whiskey As Smooth As The Country That It's From

Brown-Forman Canada has launched a new Canadian Whiskey to market. Collingwood Canadian Whiskey is the first new major Canadian whiskey to hit the market in almost a decade. Collingwood Canadian Whiskey is the only hand-crafted, Maplewood mellowed Canadian whiskey available on the market.

"We set out to create a whiskey that is as smooth as the country that it's from, and we are confident we've accomplished that," said Brad Fletcher, Brown-Forman Canada's Country Manager. "Collingwood sets a new standard for smoothness and will revolutionize and reinvigorate the Canadian Whiskey category." Fletcher said that one of the big advantages Collingwood offers is the abundance of excellent water, saying that good water makes good whiskey.

The launch of Collingwood Canadian Whiskey represents a collaborative effort between the Town of Collingwood, the Government of Ontario and the Grain Farmers of Ontario Association to help build economic stability locally and in the province as a whole.

"There are instances where manufacturing and tourism enhance one another" said Collingwood Mayor Sandra Cooper. "A successful launch of Collingwood Canadian Whiskey will help broaden and heighten the town's tourism to include the distillery's history and local roots."

Collingwood Councillor Mike Edwards said that the launch of this new local whiskey is tremendous news for the town. "You can't buy this type of world-wide publicity."

Local farmers stand to gain from a successful Collingwood launch. The whiskey is made from Ontario grown corn - the province's second largest cash crop. The manufacturing of Collingwood Canadian Whiskey will help support the 28,000 members represented by the Grain Farmers of Ontario by creating demand for their product. It will also create awareness of Ontario corn and Ontario grains to global markets through export sales of the whiskey.

Collingwood Canadian Whiskey is available in select LCBO stores (including right here in Collingwood) with full scale distribution set for October.
