Area Year-round Visitation

Visitation to Collingwood and surrounding area has increased greatly over the past several years. This steady increase in visitor numbers can be attributed to a large degree to the development of the new Intrawest Village at Blue Mountain. Prior to the Blue Mountain - Intrawest partnership, Blue Mountain attracted around 720,000 visitors to their resort annually (KPMG Economic Impact 1999). By 2006, in excess of 2.1 million visitors travelled to the area annually. In addition to this figure is the increasing number of Spring, Summer and Fall tourists that pour into our area to enjoy our beaches, boating, historic downtown, trail system, natural attractions and golf courses and resorts. Of course, the Collingwood region represents Ontario's number one winter playground, with downhill skiing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling opportunities for all ages.

Collingwood is strategically located between Wasaga Beach (Wasaga Beach is the world's longest fresh water beach, with 11 miles of sandy beach) and Blue Mountain. Collingwood is the hub of a larger area known as the Georgian Triangle. Collingwood services an area of 100,000 permanent and seasonal residents who have chosen Collingwood as their special place to live, work and play.
