Regional Labour Market

Significant Finding 4

Collingwood is an integral part of a regional labour market. 20% of Collingwood's employed residents work outside the community while 47% of the jobs in Collingwood are filled by Non-residents.

Collingwood is an integral part of a larger regional market in the Georgian Triangle and there is considerable movement of labour between communities within the region. Because it is a larger community, Collingwood is the commercial centre for the entire region and it attracts workers and shoppers from the surrounding smaller communities.

It is important to look beyond the municipal boundaries and consider Collingwood’s place in the region when contemplating new economic development strategies because 20% of Collingwood’s employed residents work outside of Town, (with half of those working in Blue Mountains 6.8% and Clearview 4.1%) and nearly half (47%) of the jobs in Collingwood are filled by non-residents (mostly persons living in Clearview 16.5% and Wasaga Beach 12.3%).
