County Government

County Council is composed of the Mayors and Deputy Mayors of each of the sixteen towns and townships, or area municipalities which comprise the County of Simcoe.

The head of County Council is called the Warden.

The members of County Council elect a Warden among the council members at an Inaugural Meeting, held annually in December.

Simcoe County covers approximately 4840 Km2, and is located between Lake Simcoe and Georgian Bay. It was the site of the earliest non-First Nations exploration and settlement of Ontario. Simcoe County was first proclaimed a district on January 11, 1843 and covered 19 Townships.
